Limited Edition Fine Art Etchings Hand Printed and Hand Painted
Own a limited edition fine art print created by the old world printing technique of etching. Each image is drawn by hand onto a metal plate covered in a waxy substance. Then the place is etched in acid for some time to etch the lines into the metal plate.
To make a print, the metal plate is inked, wiped and run through a hand turned etching press printing one piece of artwork at a time. While the print is printed in ink the embossed borders are also pressed into the paper by a metal plate. Then the prints are stacked between blotting papers and wood for two days to allow the ink to dry.
Next Lynnette hand paints all the colors on with liquid acrylic watercolor paints making each etching a unique treasure.
Lynnette learned the art of etching from Stephen Whittle who was born in Leeds, England and lived in Fairfield Iowa in 1996.
